An infographic is a great way to relay information with a process as well as dividing up information.

It can be challenging for people to get subject matter experts to dedicate the time needed for a content creator to capture their knowledge. I’ve found there are three key ingredients in making the project go smoothly and to keep the SME engaged: show a respectful interest in them and what they do, get the SME to identify a personal benefit to this project’s completion, and keep communications organized and regular.

This is an ongoing problem, so creating this infographic helps me share a few pointers with others.

What I learned

Sometimes it can be challenging to make words of different length justify on the left and the right sides correctly without losing readability. Instead, I used rectangles under the text and gave them the same width. That helped keep the same look/feel you get from left and right justified text.

What I'd do differently

Take out the red color. In general, red is a tough color to work with and any slight shift in the hue or when you lower the opacity makes the red look pink. Pink drastically changes the meaning of the bold, commanding red.
