Fully animated video + infographic

This was a reasonably-sized project that involved interviewing SMEs, writing a script, designing an infographic, repurposing parts of the infographic as storyboards, editing audio, and animating the final video.

The interesting part of this project is how an infographic, a nice-to-have deliverable, was created before the video because I knew I could repurpose nearly all of it. The effort to create a second deliverable was minimal. However, the ability to share multiple communications from department to customer is significant.

When planning a project like this, it’s important to ask how communication takes place between the department and customer. I know they send monthly emails to customers, so it is helpful to attach an infographic to the email and the capture attention from those that might not click the video link.

Department: Product Support

Product: Animated Video

Software: Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro

What I learned

Truth be told, this is the first time I took solid chunks from an infographic and animated them. It wasn’t quite as clean cut as I thought it would be, but I was completely happy with the outcome. Also, this is the first time I animated the speech boxes found at the beginning of the video – that was fun!

What I'd do differently

There was a request later for additional, supporting graphics to be designed for a presentation deck. The animated video might have benefited from those graphics later designed. It is probably best to assume someone, somewhere can benefit from additional graphics and take the extra time upfront to cover more needs.
